It seems that the Arab countries have taken up the topic of artificial intelligence.

So, recently we wrote that in the United Arab Emirates was appointed the first in history. Now saudi Arabia became the first country in the world where the robot was issued citizenship. Perhaps this is just a bright advertising move, designed to draw general attention to the brainchild of an American company “Hanson Robotics”, however, the precedent is still very curious.

Humanoid Robot Sophia Endowed with Advanced artificial intelligence, she personally announced that she received Saudi citizenship, speaking at a local event, dedicated to investment initiatives of the future. Robotess reported those present:

I am very proud that I fortunate enough to occupy such a position. Getting a robot citizenship is a great historical event for both people and for androids.

Sofia really has impressive artificial intelligence, which she demonstrated to her audience. When leading american journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin events, Fembot asked why she looks so happy, gynoid replied:

Because I’m extremely pleased to speak today before influential, rich and smart people.

Sorkin asked how a robotess can understand whether she is self-aware, to which Sofia easily retorted:

How do you know if you have self-awareness you?

It is noteworthy that in March last year, Sofia, giving an interview to its creator, David Hanson, said that he wants to destroy all of humanity. The inventor said that the fembot is endowed a peculiar sense of humor, and then in her answer it was clearly manifestation thereof.

Sofia is a self-learning robot and, in addition, is able to express (or rather, imitate) emotions. Her face can become sad, cheerful, displeased, or compassionate. Ginoid programmed in such a way as to constantly learn from people. After chatting for a while with any English-speaking person, Sofia getting a little smarter. She supports conversations on many topics, and a list of areas of which she has knowledge, constantly expands.

Controversy over whether artificial intelligence can have any rights are very serious. If it seems to you that all this idle mischief, then you are deeply mistaken.

So, the acquisition of android citizenship by the kingdom has already caused a flurry of criticism from many residents of the country. Disgruntled Arabs report that since the robot appears as a woman, she should was performing with a hijab on her head and accompanied male guardian, as required by any woman’s laws Saudi Arabia.

In addition, many Saudis were outraged by the fact that some “mannequin with a speaker” just got citizenship countries, while many labor migrants working here for years, cannot afford to become full citizens state.
