Last Thursday night, and on Friday, winter debuted at Southern Germany and Austria – and more! German channel RTL called the beginning of winter “the hardest in 200 years!”. According to RTL, many meteorologists were taken by surprise, as in some places it fell to half a meter of snow, notrickszone.com writes
Those soft winters have passed, similar to what Europe saw in the 1990s and early 2000s. Indeed, for Central Europe the last 5 winters, one after the other, everyone has been colder than usually – and this is a record!
These days is the “blockbuster time” for the German road salt producers. In Europe, municipalities received good lesson: ignore silly predictions about warm winters, and order a huge amount of salt, and you need to do this in advance!
