According to various estimates, science knows about the underwater world from 5 to 10 percent, no more. Such a run in the very assessment of opportunities scientists also understand: how can you compare the known with the unknown? In any case, it’s all just an estimate, but almost all researchers converge in the main thing: we humans have practically nothing We know about the inhabitants of the deep sea.

This was confirmed by a month and a half expedition of scientists Indonesian Institute and National University of Singapore, who are now intensively studying the bottom of the Indian Ocean, or rather say – a little bit of it in the region of the southern part of the island of Java. AND even just a month and a half of work in this direction turned out to be so amazing in their results that they literally shocked researchers with new marine animals: discovered more than 12 thousand species unknown to this science.

The hermit crabs completely became especially interesting for scientists. a new type, lobsters that have a “chainsaw” are amazing bloody shrimp and more. But the highlight of these huge deep-sea cockroaches (see photos and admire with scientists).

And if some species of marine animals in principle were only “modified acquaintances”, then underwater cockroaches – this is something new to these deep sea. The biggest deep sea scientists jokingly called the star villain Darth Vader a joke. How does he look like the movie character of the famous stellar movie epic – you judge, but the submariners for some reason at the sight of this monster precisely such associations arose.

Here’s what the expert says about unique underwater finds Peter Ng:

We did not even imagine that at the bottom of the ocean near the island Java there are such amazing creatures. True, scientists rarely sink into the depths of the ocean, for example, I don’t even remember when in the last time such studies were conducted in this place. A it’s a pity…

Note that all this rich catch of researchers still needs carefully process and study, and by this the Indonesian workers Institute and National University of Singapore will engage in the most soon. How much work this is, even says The target date for publishing the first report is no earlier than 2020. Imagine now why scientists know about the oceans so few. And what they know may turn out to be just a slight shadow really the existing underwater world …
