Japanese Kubota heavy equipment manufacturer demonstrated a prototype unmanned agricultural technicians – electric tractor “X Tractor”. As reported company representatives, this development should substantially facilitate the work of farmers.
Kubota has been a member since 2016. Japanese Government Farmer Support Program. Essence the program is the gradual replacement of the retiring agricultural staff of twenty different species robots.
According to the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, the average age of farmers in the Land of the Rising Sun in 2016 was 67 years old when the average age of farmers worldwide was 60 years old. Every year, fewer able-bodied people remains in agriculture, which steadily leads to food crisis.
In order to implement the government program, Kubota has embarked to the development of unmanned agricultural machinery, as well as special an exoskeleton designed to make it easier for people to assemble and transportation of the crop. Hitachi is also involved in this program, Iseki and Yanmar.
Tractor “X Tractor” is equipped with four tracked modules with independent drive, satellite navigation system and several video cameras. The tractor is able to change the clearance in a wide range, thereby providing patency on the fields of various types, including number of rice. At the same time, built-in artificial intelligence the tractor, based on the assessment of plant growth, will independently determine time of planting and collection. Unfortunately Kubota does not disclose all details about the functionality of the smart tractor, including sales launch time.
