Japanese inventors said they found a way to mine electricity from sunlight passing through window glass. It is reported by the Japanese edition of Asahi.
According to the developers, they created special material, which absorbs light in the infrared. After about three year it is planned to begin production of window glasses with this coated. At the same time, the transparency of window glasses does not at all will suffer.
Innovative material based on iron sulfide convert 3.8% of the received sunlight into electric energy. The next task of the inventors is to increase efficiency given coverage.
It is known that almost 46% of solar radiation is light in infrared range. However, previously it was believed that this not enough to generate electricity. Now japanese developers are confident that with proper development their new technology will allow to receive big return from solar radiation.
It is possible that in the future the window frames will be equipped special sockets for connecting electrical appliances to them, say smartphones or other gadgets.
Previously, ESOREITER talked about a generator developed by scientists, generating electricity from water.
