It happened in the North Carolina of the United States, where the man was charged with inhuman treatment of an aquarium fish and brought an administrative case on him.
When viewing an apartment in Wilmington, New Hanover County the police discovered a dirty aquarium with a fish that forgot when moving, or deliberately abandoned the previous owner of this home of Michael Ray Hinson. Since the 53-year-old man left the house relatively recently, a fish that turned out to be ocular astronotus, was still alive, but was in terrible condition due to malnutrition and prolonged lack of care aquarium.

County sheriff’s assistants immediately removed the fish from this “dirty prison “and sent her to the pet store, where employees not only determined what kind of species it was, but also promised to leave the unfortunate animal, to find for him a new, certainly caring the owner.
Note that the ocular astronotus is considered one of the most interesting aquarium fish, as it can be trained and has a pronounced character. Such a fish can grow up to 40 centimeters long.

Hinson, as the district office told reporters the sheriff is now facing a small jail sentence, or money penalty. This is the first time in North Carolina when American incriminated for mistreating aquarium fish.
