Near the village of Babadan in the Indonesian region of Yogyakarta with from time immemorial a small river flowed, however several days back she, to the great surprise and annoyance of the locals, almost disappeared, leaving behind only numerous puddles and streams. A deep funnel suddenly formed in the bottom of the river, swiftly swallowed the stream in front of the affected Aboriginal people.
By turning on the video below, you can see it an unusual and somewhat surrealistic sight themselves. For villagers such a turn of events was a significant shock, since the river was an indispensable source of fresh water in the village. Some devout Indonesians have even concluded that higher forces sent them a similar punishment for an unrighteous lifestyle.
Representatives of the local emergency response department natural disasters explain that this is a karst funnel considerable depth. It’s not yet possible to say whether water will return to channel. There is no point in “closing up” the funnel (as well as physical opportunities), so you just have to wait and hope for the best. Unfortunately, there are very few wells in Babadan, therefore drinking water will have to be imported here, which will create for the local population big inconvenience and considerable problems.
