Tires are an extremely important component of a car. Providing contact of the car with the road, tires are also one of the most problematic auto parts. In particular, this happens because road conditions tend to change due to season, weather and type of pavement. Because of this owners have to change treads periodically.
South Korean tire maker Kumho unveils innovative concept. Airless tires called “Maxplo” able to adapt to the surface of the road, thereby providing maximum quality wheel contact with the street. It is possible that fixed protectors may soon be replaced tires that change the configuration of their own surface in depending on the type of road. For example, if the road is wet, on special three-dimensional grooves will appear that will pump out water. On rough terrain, the tires will expand, contributing to increased traction. In icy or snow miraculous protectors spikes will be released that will normally be hidden inside wheels.

For unique tires to work properly, they need auxiliary hydrogen power for electric motor hubs. The diameter of the “Maxplo” is seven hundred millimeters, the width is two hundred and fifty millimeters. The mass of one tire equals twelve kilograms. The concept was awarded a platinum medal at Italian Design Exhibition “Design Awards” in the category futuristic projects.
