Bicycle, despite the desire of some to write it off “yesterday”, does not want to leave the arena of the most popular modes of transport, only acquiring over time more and more perfect quality. Another novelty of this ageless bike – a constructive solution that eliminates the usual bicycle chain. It is this unique property that the DrivEn concept has, which CeramicSpeed introduced at Eurobike 2018
Instead of the usual metal chain, this bike has a shaft, but not like a car or a motorcycle, but light and flexible, made of carbon fiber. On both sides of this shaft special ceramic bearings, as well as curved at 90 degrees of the teeth, so that he, rotating himself by pedal, rotates the rear wheel of the bike.

Thanks to this design, the developers say, they managed reduce friction (compared to a conventional chain, even the most perfect Shimano Dura Ace) at 49 percent. Friction decreases over due to the absence of eight contact points from chain transmission (places where the chain passes through the sprocket, cassette, switch).

The unique DrivEn bike has thirteen speeds and can demonstrate truly fantastic on a good track indicators, while significantly saving the strength of the cyclist. Not accidentally a new invention was immediately awarded the Eurobike Prize Award received by the developers of the University of Colorado.
