Have you ever had to sob over a book? Usually, when reading this happens less often than, for example, when viewing some sentimental movie. The writer is trying to force our hearts tremble, operating with only 33 letters of the alphabet (or and even less, depending on the language), good imagination and ability to empathize. However, in the future, apparently, books will affect readers using completely different mechanisms. Researchers at the Massachusetts Media Lab Institute of Technology created “dressing books” allowing convey the physical sensations that the characters experience. Project called Sensory Fiction. Book equipped with sensory sensors, fastens to a special vest, which should wear while reading. As the plot progresses, the device recreates to the reader sensations imitating the alleged experiences of heroes. Is the main character sad? Hundred LED light bulbs covering the book will create lighting transmitting appropriate mood. Fears? Air bags on a vest begin to fill with air and create a feeling of constriction. Worried? Special vibrations will make your heart beat faster. Confused? A warming device changes the temperature of your skin. Experts believe that the recreation of physical sensations is the inevitable evolution of fiction, especially if note that many readers have already switched to e-books. Disney is also considering this concept, intending to create a series books with the ability to interact with physical objects – that is, a hybrid that will combine and virtual and physical. Many, of course, relate to skeptical about improvements, claiming that they all destroy the magic of reading. But perhaps in a modern world where everyone reads less and less, any means that can arouse interest are good to literature?
