In the United States, a huge a crack in the ground, foreshadowing, according to some experts, the future split of the North American mainland. We are used to that in Hollywood disaster movies like natural disasters happen overnight, leading to numerous deaths and widespread panic in society, but in real life all this can occur slowly and imperceptibly.

The appearance of a large crack, which began to divide the third largest the continent of the planet was actually inconspicuous and not accompanied by any seismic activity. It happened in Yellowstone National Park in northwestern Wyoming. Now the picturesque biosphere reserve will be famous not only with its many geysers and caves, but also a fault in land threatening to divide North America into at least two parts.

The crack length is currently six hundred eighty meters, width – forty-six meters. Scientists report that the fault rapidly increasing in size, and by the end of this decades, the length of the rocky depression will be over one and a half kilometers. Obviously, this is very disturbing news. both for the American reserve and for the mainland as a whole.

Cracking mainland – not exotic for tourists

Seismologists joining a potentially dangerous study cracks, said no major tremors and earthquakes in the region are not observed. It means that tectonic plates are not compressed with each other and are not exposed displacement, however, due to natural processes move, and led to a fracture of the upper layer of the earth, located at the junction of two these tectonic plates.

Scientists are not yet able to determine what the movement of the plates it will end, what danger to the terrain does it present and how this disaster stop. Will there be a new canyon here, or Will North America really be split in half? Only time will tell. Experts emphasize that this territory is unsafe and it’s better not to approach the crack, however this doesn’t stop numerous onlookers wanting to stare at a rift that could in theory transform their country to unrecognizable.

It is noteworthy that for the first time the world learned about this crack in the fall last year when American Randy Becker stumbled upon her in trekking time and took some photos which upon return I immediately put it home on the Internet. Many regulars of the World the web wrote then that it was an ordinary small gorge, however Becker expressed undisguised concern for his find.

Now that the fault has interested scientists, we can safely say that it’s not just a crevice in the earth, but something much more serious and dangerous. And this is far from exotic for tourists …
