Since the eruptions on the submarine volcano Nishinoshima not stop for a minute, its island part is also exposed changes. Back in November 2013, near the underwater crater formed a volcanic mini-island, which was later included in a group of Bonin islands, which in turn are part of Pacific “ring of fire”. All this time, newborn Niijima Island regularly smoked, emitted volcanic gas, and even lava, increasing its surface. As a result, the island is so has grown that began to absorb the neighboring, larger and older the island of Nishino Shima, although many geologists believed that Niijima after a few weeks, it will simply plunge into the water again. Full the absorption of the old island by the younger took place already in the new year. At the beginning of the merger, the total length of the islands was about a thousand kilometers. Since then, the surface mass of the island conglomeration tripled and now rises over 60 meters sea level. The underwater volcano itself is more or less calm, occasional lava emissions occur only on its southern slope. But the volcano is clearly visible in clear weather due to non-disappearing a cloud of ash above the point where a crater is hidden under water.
