Pakistani authorities declare a state of emergency due to major invasion of locusts. Agriculture already inflicted huge damage. It is reported by the information publication Deutsche Welle.
Pakistani Information Minister Firdus Ashik Awan said that the country is currently experiencing the largest locust invasion over the past two decades, and to cope with this threat, It was decided to declare a state of emergency.
This decision was also approved by the Prime Minister. Imran Khan. According to Pakistan Development Minister Mahdum Khusro Bakhtiyar, locust invasion puts food at risk Pakistan’s security.
The locust invasion began in Pakistan last summer, when an insect harmful to agriculture moved with side of Iran. Currently vast territories of pakistan seriously affected by this invasion. Great damage done crops of wheat, corn and cotton.
