The staff of the Royal Dental Institute London College has developed a technology by which patients will be able to independently grow missing teeth right in their own to the mouth. Work on growing teeth begins in the laboratory. First, bioengineers make a tooth bud in vitro. For two types of cells are used for this – epithelial cells human gums (patient) and stem cells of mouse embryos. “Epithelial cells from the gums are able to send a signal and provoke stem cells to become a certain type tooth, “said the author of the study, Professor Paul Sharp. As soon as such a tooth germ will grow a little in vitro, natural the implant is implanted into the patient’s gums. Further tests showed that embryonic teeth can develop normally in an adult’s mouth person.
