“Open Bionics” – the company that created the world’s first prosthesis on 3D printer. Now the artificial arm is being tested as part of pilot project by Daniel Malville.

Joel Gibbard, 24-year-old creator of the original prosthesis, became winner of the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 electronics show in nomination “Best innovative product.” Judges of the competition unanimously recognized the prosthesis as a unique high-tech an invention that has no equal.

Daniel’s right inferior brush was scanned to create accurate 3D-frame, repeating his hand as much as possible, which took only 20 minutes. The frame itself was printed in 40 minutes. Dates in which the prosthesis was created, simply surprise: instead of a few weeks that go into creating a conventional prosthesis, artificial a hand cast in a 3D printer was finished after 40 hours. After prints on it installed robotic parts, and then prosthetic electromagnetic sensors were connected to the nerve and the muscle endings of Melville’s arm.

As Daniel gets used to his new hand, more and more convinced in the advantage of a unique prosthesis over conventional cosmetic ones, which cannot be compared with Gibbard’s invention. And in this time, tireless robotics is about to improve the prosthesis he created, reducing its mass, increasing its strength and durability, as well as removing external wires that are clearly visible on first prototype.
