The population of our planet is growing rapidly. Accordingly, agricultural production and food industry designed to feed humanity. Wherein it’s clear to everyone that someday the time will come when food at all earthlings simply do not have enough.

This refers not only to the population of poor countries, which is now unsweetened, but also the citizens of developed countries. The food crisis is only a matter of time, and therefore should start the search for alternative ways as soon as possible growing agricultural products.

The Dutch company is well known to Russian consumers Philips, a manufacturer of quality home appliances. Engineers of this companies have recently been offered an effective way to solve food problem.

It turns out that products can be grown in your own home – for you only need to purchase a special LED-backlight, which replaces sunlight with plants.

In the Netherlands, Philips has built and already launched a farm called GrowWise City, where on 230 sq. meters by company specialists Growth schemes for agricultural crops under the light of LED lamps are being developed. This development is believed to allow farmers to grow products all year round, despite the weather and other external factors that sometimes lead to crop losses.

GrowWise City Farm grows vegetables without using pesticides, which will certainly attract connoisseurs of environmentally friendly pure natural food.

The farm is divided into eight rooms, each of which own microclimate. The rooms are filled with four-story racks, on them branded Philips GreenPower LED bulbs installed. Now scientists grown on a miracle farm mainly various varieties of lettuce and strawberries. Soon they will switch to other cultures, in particular potatoes and wheat.

According to project manager Gus van der Feltz, the challenge scientists is to develop technology that will allow humanity to grow tasty and healthy products anywhere. The method eliminates emissions into the environment of harmful substances and any waste, as well as spending on product transportation, which is very important because transportation (except for the consumption of a huge amount of fuel) leads to the loss of almost half of the food. By the way, this something reminiscent of the transport of heat to apartments. If necessary today to someone to prove that the heating boiler in the house much more efficient than a city boiler with a whole network heating mains? ..

As already mentioned, the project is designed to prevent food crisis on earth. Who knows, maybe in the future each of us will have a mini-farm at home and eat fresh healthy products of our own production.
