Another similar picture, namely La Misereuse accroupie (“Woman Squatting”, 1902) researchers discovered creativity of Pablo Picasso Northwestern University of Chicago.

The original itself is in Toronto owned by the Art Gallery of Ontario and is a canvas depicting sitting against a wall a woman covered with a plaid (see photo). Checking the picture at radiography method, scientists found under the main depicting another layer – clearly a landscape and clearly not drawn Picasso. Radiography allowed researchers to do another discovery: it turns out the artist first portrayed a woman with open hand, in which there was a disk, and then for some reason “hid” this hand under the cloak (more on this in the video).

But the main mystery still remains the fact that Picasso often resorted to this practice – painting on used canvases, for example, so made his famous Blue Room (background: portrait of an unknown man), paintings “Ironman”, “Life” and some others. Unclear, why the famous Spanish-French surrealist used to other people’s paintings may suggest researchers, this allowed him to avoid the routine work of selection of the canvas he needs – in format and even in primer? ..
