Today, approximately 5 trillion units pollute the oceans plastic packaging, the total weight of which reaches 250,000 tons. It turns out that for each of the inhabitants of the planet there are about 700 units of plastic trash. However, a new study, conducted by scientists at the University of Georgia, makes reconsider and these awesome numbers.

Scientists have discovered that a significant part of the garbage is simply not taken into account, since the inhabitants of most coastal regions are hardly give an account of how much plastic they send to the ocean. therefore 4.8 to 12.7 million tons of this annually fall into the water artificial material (an average of 8 million).

The problem is seriously aggravated by the fact that on the coast live in mostly people who are not really (to say the least) care about the state of the environment. This statement especially applies to Asian countries. For this reason, the amount of garbage in the future increase: by 2025 grams of plastic in the ocean will become annually throw twice as much.
