The other day, Metropolitan of Yaroslavl and Rostov was robbed Panteleimon (in the world of Dolganov), after which he, as the most ordinary Russian citizen, contacted the police.
As the investigators found, thieves broke the castle in the house Metropolitan, located near the Fedorov Cathedral Cathedral, when the priest was not in the city (presumably from the third on September eighteenth). They stole from a church minister together with a safe eleven million rubles, thirty thousand dollars, three thousands of euros and seven most valuable panagias made for the highest church hierarchs made of precious stones and metals. Naturally, criminal case instituted.
However, this information, published on the city portal, aroused bewilderment among the inhabitants of Yaroslavl. Why, exclaimed almost everyone who left comments on the news, father for help turned to the police, not to God, as the Christian church teaches and is he in his sermons? And if money and panagia also belonged not to the metropolis, but to the minister of the church himself, then to him should be ashamed doubly in front of parishioners – where did he get such facilities?
As the inhabitant of the Sretensky monastery noted on this occasion – priest Athanasius Gumerov, according to Christian commandments, abandoned to us by Jesus Christ, any evil must be answered with good, that is, to forgive the thieves and punish them over the Lord, and not worldly justice. The basis of the commandments is the faith of the true Christian in omnipotence and omniscience of God.
It turns out that this faith is not in the soul of the Metropolitan, if he is here same, as soon as he was robbed, from the highest example (for parishioners) service of the Lord instantly turned into an ordinary layman, for whose most important thing is to return the money and punish the lost sheep.
