Brief information on the fact that March 17, 2015 Atomproekt introduced the participants to the Breakthrough project decisions of the module for reprocessing spent nuclear fuel (spent nuclear fuel) they say nothing to a layman. And for those who are “in the subject,” this signal: Russia has pulled far ahead in nuclear power, and its no longer catch up.
What is our civilization without electricity?
All modern civilization is based on electrical energy. There is an abyss of electricity in the house, as all residents begin to run like scalded cockroaches and phoning: “What happened? Is this for a long time? When will they give light? ”
Therefore, tens and hundreds of thousands are scattered all over the world. various TPPs, hydroelectric power stations and state district power stations. There are exotic power plants that produce energy by burning biomass or transforming into electric kinetic wind energy.
But energy experts are confident that the future is for nuclear stations. However, the number of nuclear power plants in the world is not only not increasing, and even shrinking. Why?
Such a bad nuclear power plant
A nuclear power plant, with all its advantages, remains the most dangerous for of humanity. The name of the Ukrainian city of Chernobyl is known to all to the world. But unexploded nuclear power plants carry a danger. FROM every year the amount of spent nuclear fuel, and no one knows what to do with it.
Plutonium and uranium-235 used in a nuclear reactor are ready stuffing for the atomic bomb. Therefore, any country leading research in the field of nuclear energy, in the end will not only a “peaceful atom”, but also a nuclear bomb.
That is why the emergence of new nuclear power plants meets such opposition and from the “green”, and from the world community, and in in some countries the construction of nuclear power plants is even prohibited by law.
And at the same time, there is no alternative to the development of nuclear energy. The largest number of nuclear power plants are located just in the most industrial developed countries: USA, Russia, Germany, Japan, France, perfectly it is aware.
Russian “Breakthrough”
In 2011, a project called “Breakthrough” was launched in Russia, whose goal was the creation of a fourth nuclear reactor fast neutron generation. How is it different from now working reactors, explain on the fingers:
1. The Brest nuclear reactor being created under the project will be work in a closed cycle, processing almost all raw materials. The radiation level of waste is at the level of natural ore. Almost closes the problem of nuclear waste.
2. The reactor will be able to operate on an already developed nuclear fuel, i.e. the problem of recycling already accumulated is solved nuclear waste.
3. Given the fact that the world has accumulated 345 thousand tons of nuclear waste, raw materials will last for several hundred years. The problem is removed extraction and purchase of raw materials, the question goes to the plane: “And how much do you pay us for taking the waste from your plants for you your stations? ”
4. Absolute radiation safety: in the case of not only accident, but even targeted diversion of radioactive emissions is not will not be under any scenario. Whatever scale of the accident, evacuation of the population is not required. So, such Reactors can be installed even in large populated areas.
5. Enriched uranium is not needed for reactor operation; raw materials may serve and U-238, on the basis of which it is impossible to create an atomic the bomb. Hence: the Middle East countries will begin to develop nuclear energy The East, which the US is currently obstructing.
Consequences of nuclear power
With the advent of fourth-generation nuclear reactors on the market experts predict rapid growth in the construction of nuclear power plants throughout to the world. According to the first estimates, the need for reactors with a capacity of 100-400 MW will be from 500 to 1,000 units. If in money, then it’s 300-600 billion dollars. Now guess three times whose reactors will be installed at these nuclear power plants and whose companies will build them, i.e. in which country will all these amounts flow in the near future?
The idea of building a fast neutron reactor did not arise yesterday, however, technical problems encountered during implementation ideas seemed insurmountable. As follows from the message, their Russian successfully decided and set about creating an in-metal reactor.
That’s why the news of March 17 sounded a funeral march for European businessmen and politicians.
Russia is the future world energy leader
The final implementation of this project is set to begin. 2020s. But do not think that the result we will see only in 2020 and it will illuminate the world like a sudden outbreak light bulb. In reality, Russia will begin to reap the first fruits much earlier. And if nothing happens before 2020 extraordinary (such as the capture of the Earth by aliens), then in the appointed term, Russia will become a leader in global energy and will retain its position for the next 50-60 years.
Well, the West may continue to experiment with windmills power plants and develop projects for generating electricity by burning cow cakes. Flag in their hands!
