The result was exactly the one that the doctors sought – already through week after transplantation, analyzes of sick animals returned to normal, and in during the year, the disease never gave a relapse.

“This involves living liver cells, bone marrow cells, synthetic and bioresorbable substances on which these cells multiply. That is, we get a kind of tissue-engineering design, which, after being introduced into the animal’s body, after some time begins to function as a structural unit of the liver, “- said the director of the Federal Scientific Center for Transplantology and artificial organs named after Academician V.I. Shumakova, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergey Gauthier.

So far, transplantologists specify, we are talking only about the initial stage of work in this area – a number of work remains to be done research before clinical can begin tests.
