According to the Kaliningrad scientists, who became the authors of this project, the main purpose of their experience is to study behavior and insect biomechanics on the example of cockroaches, which are some of the most ancient mansions of our planet. Journalists interviewed Director of the Chemical-Biological Institute of the BFU Maxim Patrushev, found that researchers specifically put in their way numerous technological difficulties in order to independently find ways to successfully solve them, and these artificial problems, like says the scientist, they do not scare him with colleagues at all.
To make the microterminator project come true, Kaliningrad specialists spent about one and a half million rubles and more than six months of time. Mechanical born The cockroach has a length of several centimeters. Device capable reach a speed of thirty centimeters per second. The robot was created of hundreds of tiny details and designed for payload in ten grams. RC cockroach can be equipped a miniature video camera and send someone to spy on, as in one of the scenes of the movie “The Fifth Element”.
