Every 11 years a special period of the solar cycle begins – sunny minimum. During this period, the number of spots on the surface our luminary decreases, because of which the energy is weakened, emerging from the bowels of the sun.
Professor, Department of Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering Northumbria University Valentina Zharkova reported that in 2020, the sun will enter the so-called Great Solar minimum – period of minimal solar activity. It usually lasts about two years, but this time it could drag on for as long as 33 years.
