US scientists have completed the first phase of clinical trials new drug (VentriGel hydrogel) intended repair damaged heart cells as a result myocardial infarction. He writes about hydrogel tests Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Basic to Translational Science.
An experimental hydrogel was administered to fifteen patients, who have suffered heart attacks in the past three years. Researchers noted in the experiment participants improved well-being and increased stamina during physical exertion.

The developed hydrogel contains the extracellular matrix of pigs, previously purified from cells. During hydrogel injection endothelial growth occurs, from which then occurs the formation of blood vessels. Hydrogel also inhibits overgrowth connective tissue scarring.
