Scientists have discovered the source of youth?

American scientists from Boston and Harvard Children’s Hospital medical school found out why wounds heal in young people much faster than the elderly and thus opened the source youth, reports Fedpost.ru. According to The Independent, two groups of researchers found the Lin28a and IMP1 genes, one of which is a source of youth. These are both genes participate in the regeneration process (recovery by the body damaged tissue). Scientists believe Lin28a gene is particularly active at the stage of embryonic development, but with age its effect the body decreases due to a decrease in the amount of protein that it encodes. Due to these changes, older people’s wounds are difficult amenable to treatment. “It sounds like science fiction, but the gene Lin28a can be an ingredient in a healing cocktail that will give adults the ability to repair damaged tissue like how this happens among young people, “says one of researchers George Daily. “We concluded that Lin28a or a drug that mimics the metabolic effects of this gene, improve wound healing and tissue repair. Therefore, in the future this will lead to faster regeneration of patients who have had surgery or injury. “Scientists added that the second IMP1 gene also encodes a protein, but it promotes stem cell self-renewal during fetal development and is involved in tissue repair in later life.
