Recently, more and more earthquakes occur in the world, which scientists cannot predict in advance. Scientists from California Institute of Technology found a solution this problem.

It is believed that the main cause of earthquakes is collision of tectonic plates and volcanic eruptions. Scientists earlier believed that nearly half of all medium-sized earthquakes weaker events were recorded.

In a new study of earthquakes that occurred between 2008 and 2017 years in Southern California with a magnitude of 4 and above, it became clear that about 72% of them had the so-called “precursors” – weak tremors.

Continuing their research, scientists received confirmation hypotheses about the gradual growth of earthquakes, starting with small aftershocks and ending powerful. These findings allow us to predict devastating earthquakes in almost real time.

This finding does not give cause for concern when the occurrence of small earthquakes. Only 5% of these phenomena can grow from small to more catastrophic the consequences.

In July 2019, powerful earthquakes occurred in the United States, and all in southern california. On July 4, the magnitude of the shocks was 6.4, and on July 5 – 7.1. Large cracks formed on the roads and on the houses, wires were broken and fires broke out in some places.

ESOREITER previously talked about a new prediction method earthquakes, which jointly developed by Russian and American scientists.
