Scientists’ worst fears come true Larsen Glacier Antarctica

The worst fears of scientists about the Larsen Glacier of Antarctica come trueA photo from open sources

As we already reported, from July 10 to July 12 of this year there was a split huge iceberg from the Larsen Glacier in Antarctica, weighing in a trillion plus tons and the size of the US state of Delaware – approximately like two Moscow.

After that, scientists began to make forecasts, which threatens our the planet this greatest iceberg in history, what troubles it can do, set sail on the shores of South America?

However, researchers in Antarctica feared something more: how events will develop on the glacier in the future Larsen, having lost a large piece of ice (iceberg A68, like him dubbed the scientists)?

Recent satellite images confirm the worst fears of scientists: the instability of the ice shelf is manifested all more and more, other ice blocks are being prepared for separation may soon tear themselves away from the “mother”, turning into icebergs, significantly superior to the A68.

Today a new crack has formed, it’s as if “pushed off” from the old and now confidently headed for Bawden Ice Rise (see diagram), which Antarctic researchers consider a critical reference point for the entire Larsen Glacier. If crack reaches this point, a catastrophe will occur, the consequences of which scientists do not even undertake to predict, so with fear watching developments …
