China’s air pollution reaches new heights – Friday smog enveloped the capital of Tibet, turning one of the most picturesque species into the world in an obscure spot. The historical capital of Tibet, Lhasa is located at an altitude of 3700 meters above sea level, and last month The Ministry of Environmental Protection of China called this city one out of 10 places in China with the cleanest air. But the situation has changed quickly. Already this Friday a thick smog enveloped Tibet, brought northerly winds from the Tibetan plateau. How the portal approves Ifeng, in some places visibility dropped to just 5 kilometers, flights had to be canceled. Potala Palace located in Lhasa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but these days the palace complex became invisible already at a distance of several kilometers hidden by dense smog. This state of affairs is not only upset tourists, but also surprised many Chinese who are clearly not expected a sacred place at such a height and clearly not industrial, may be affected pollution.
