We already wrote about the energy fluid that we came up with Swedish scientists, in order to effectively and, most importantly, indefinitely to store the energy received from solar panels.

By the way, a similar problem concerns not only the sun, but also wind power. Since people cannot (during the day, in depending on the season, air temperature and other factors) evenly spend renewable energy, then it needs somewhere to store.

Battery storage farms, e.g. Powerpack (Tesla) – were ineffective, so it was time to recall the old proven methods with building small autonomous hydraulic structures in which excess electricity is spent on water injection into the upper reservoirs, and during the period of its shortage, water discharged to hydraulic turbines generating current. However, there has always been and remains a serious drawback of hydraulic structures – environmental hazard to the environment.

The Swiss company “Energy Vault” has proposed its An original way to accumulate excess energy. For this a high tower is being built, the purpose of which is to raise blocks, say, 35-40 tons each – due to excess electricity. IN in case of deficiency, the blocks are lowered, producing the right amount energy. In this case, no environmental problems such installations will not create, moreover, the blocks themselves can be made from landfill materials, thereby solving the problem recycling.

“Energy Vault” has so far found only one customer – Tata Power of India. An experimental facility is being built here. 22 meter high tower (industrial tower generator will be five times as high). The main thing in this case is to check how such a battery will behave not in the laboratory, but in real setting. If the experiment succeeds, it will be a kind of breakthrough in the accumulation of “green” energy, and hence the further development of its renewable sources …
