Remember the fantastic action movie “Spider-Man 2”, where the main Antagonist was Dr. Octopus? This fictional supervillain known for its high-tech robotic tentacles, attached to his back and allowing him to perform various complex actions.
Associate Professor Yamen Saraiji of Japan’s Keio University, throughout Apparently, it was inspired by this character when he worked on his latest invention. The scientist created a kind of backpack with with two mechanical hands. Wearing such a device, you get a pair of extra limbs.
True, unlike the tentacles of Dr. Octopus, these hands not controlled by the thoughts of the owner and not by artificial intelligence, and the remote operator wearing a special virtual helmet reality. A camera peeps out from behind your shoulder allowing the operator to see what both of you are doing.
Although this is just an early prototype robotic hands, and the technology will have to be further developed for a long time, Saraiji is convinced that she has significant potential.
