A group of scientists from the United States determined how strong the bridge was, whose project was once created by the brilliant scientist Leonardo da Vinci. To do this, scientists needed to create a 3D model of the bridge, which was 500 times smaller than the 280-meter original. Model consists of 126 blocks.
It should be noted that da Vinci did not specify what material a bridge was to be built. Therefore, the researchers proceeded from that the most suitable material at that time was stone.
The assembled design showed that in reality such a bridge could to sustain its own weight without any problems, while no no bonding solutions were required.
Da Vinci’s bridge design was ten times longer other bridges of the time, although it had one arch and only two supports. The ingenious scientist also provided for the possibility of passing small vessels under the arch of construction.
