However, scientists at Johns Hopkins University, according to a magazine Science Translational Medicine, managed to create so much miniature robotic surgeon that’s enough swallow so that he, for example, performs a complex operation inside the gastrointestinal tract, and without a single cut on skin. Such a baby robot is called – STAR (Smart Tissue), when this group of researchers endowed him with such skills that even an experienced surgeon can envy.
STAR has already performed a series of pig operations, for example, successfully performed the connection of sections of the small intestine while removing the tumor. At this animal did not receive the slightest external injuries, since the robot “entered” the body through the mouth. Of course STAR is not quite yet proven model, especially as a use of such mini surgeon in human operations. This is still a laboratory sample, however, scientists say, it opens up broad prospects for the use of such robots, which in the near future will replace surgeons.
