The night of the eighteenth to the nineteenth of April occurred shipwreck in the Mediterranean that experts already call the largest and scariest in recent history.
This happened near Libya (one hundred kilometers from the coast) in Sicilian strait. A ship with a thousand passengers on board, among of which there were two hundred women and fifty children, sank, and it happened quickly, so only twenty managed to escape eight people.
On this passenger ship, mainly migrants from Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Somalia, Mali, Ghana, Senegal, Bangladesh, Zambia. At the time of the wreck, almost all of them were in the hold, where they just slept.
Currently in the largest rescue operation of the century several warships are participating, most of which Italian as well as fishing vessels and helicopters. But found in the sea is only about fifty so far, and half of them already dead. And although rescuers still hope to find people in the sea, especially since the water in it is quite warm – 17 degrees, in practice, these can be only isolated lucky ones.
