“Smart traffic lights” with a laser barrier will begin to set at 10 Russian cities, including Moscow, Tyumen, Yekaterinburg.
When the vehicle approaches a pedestrian crossing during red signal, the traffic light will automatically turn on the “laser wall”, thereby warning drivers of the danger of further movement.
In addition to the famous “stand-go-wait” traffic lights will also show time and even weather information. If visibility on the road becomes deteriorate, the device will duplicate the inhibitory signal when laser help. This signal will be equally clearly visible in the fog or with snowfall.
According to designers, the “smart traffic light” should essentially reduce the number of accidents occurring on regulated walkways transitions. The introduction of new traffic lights is at the design stage, and further, depending on the results obtained, they will be optimized.
