Scientists at the University of Edinburgh having done a tremendous research work, recently published a series of materials from named after the Geological Society of London, from which should be a disappointing conclusion for our planet: the most dangerous from the point of view of dormant volcanoes, the region of the Earth is Antarctica.
Under the huge thickness of ice on this continent in the last century 47 dormant volcanoes have been discovered, but are currently the researchers added 91 more to them – and at least since the huge glacial shell can hide other volcanic formations. So Antarctica, surprisingly scientists, forced from the first place even the East African volcanic ridge, considered so far the most formidable volcanic formation of the planet.
One of the authors of the Antarctic volcanic study Robert Bingham (Robert Bingham) believes this discovery is very disturbing to our world with its turbulent environmental environment in view of global warming. Enough for one from the volcanoes of Antarctica wake up like an unstable glacial the cover of its western part will begin a massive discharge of giant icebergs into the ocean, which can lead to a sharp increase in its water level and flooding vast coastal areas around the world. What if all volcanoes will suddenly work? ..

Conduct a new Antarctic survey to identify volcanoes, especially in the part that was not considered in the past century (under the thicker ice of this continent), belongs to young member of the geological team of the University of Edinburgh Max Van Vic de Vries, which at the moment is still student of an educational institution. However, it was he who practically started implement this project.
Repeated analysis of the ice continent was carried out using tracked vehicle radars and airplanes, after which the obtained data were compared with geological information of other aerial surveys and satellites. When Extensive data was collected into a single picture and processed on computers, it turned out that in Antarctica are even more ninety sleeping volcanoes, all of them (both old and new) are tall from 100 to 3800 meters and are now covered with ice reaching 4 kilometers of thickness. Moreover, all the peaks are concentrated in the western mainland reef system, stretching for 3,500 kilometers from Antarctic ice shelf to the Antarctic peninsula.

Here is what Robert Bingham says about it:
We are simply amazed because we expected the opposite, that there will be even fewer volcanoes in this ice world, and there are three times more. And they are all concentrated in almost one place. – in the western part of Antarctica. Unfortunately, we have today fear that at the bottom of the sea, lying under a huge shelf Ross glacier, volcanoes may be even greater. therefore Antarctica, without exaggeration, can be called the most dangerous volcanic region of the Earth. Here are the fire-breathing monsters, let while sleeping and inconspicuous, much more than in East Africa with the famous volcanoes of Kilimanjaro, Nyiragongo, Longonot and so Further. Moreover, the eruption of Antarctic volcanoes, if any will happen, will bring the world not just some trouble, but the real misfortune is the new Flood.
