According to guardiannews, senior officials US officials briefed at the White House on danger this week freeing the Arctic from ice in the summer over the next two years.
The meeting was held jointly: Acting Chief NASA scientist, Gail Allen, director of the National Science Foundation USA, Cora Marett, as well as representatives of the Department of National US Security and the Pentagon. The presence of the latter is a sign that US officials are increasingly worried international and domestic security because of the consequences climate change. Present at the meeting: Senior Scientific US Government Advisor, 10 Arctic Specialists, including Marine scientist Professor Carlos Duarte, Director of the Institute of Oceans at the University of Western Australia. In early April, Duarte warned that in summer arctic sea ice melts with higher speed than conventional climate models predicted, and the region may be free from ice already in 2015, and not towards the end centuries, as predicted by the Intergovernmental Panel on UN Climate Change (IPCC), in 2007. He said: “The situation in The Arctic is growing like a snowball: dangerous changes in the Arctic come from the accumulation of man-made greenhouse gases that leads to a significant increase in emissions of these gases. This the situation gives impetus to a racing train. ”
