In the process of forest burning, a powerful impetus in the development of its populations receive two species of beetles, a spokeswoman said Zoological Museum of Moscow State University Ilya Gomyranov.

The scientist said that the existence of some animals directly depends on fires. The most striking example of this is goldfish beetles, which immediately populate the basal part of conifers destroyed or damaged by fire. Males and females flock en masse to heat from conflagration, where they mate right on the smoldering remains of trees.

The larvae of these beetles begin to actively develop, appearing in charred wood. Development can also occur on intact trees, sometimes deciduous.

Firebird is a small bug – up to 13 mm in length. It lives in the territories from the Mediterranean Sea to the Sea of Okhotsk, and in North America. Most prefers coniferous forests. Beetles choose coniferous trees weakened or burnt by fire, in which lay larvae. The lower part of the trunk is considered the most preferred for these bugs, but it happens that they live on the upper parts of the roots.

In addition, Gomyranov added, scientists are well known for bark beetles conflagration that develops only in severely charred wood.
